The UWA City Beach Water Polo Club completed the 2015-2016 season last weekend with the Senior State League (SSL) Grand Finals on Saturday and Junior State League (JSL) Grand Finals on Sunday. With many of our teams making the grand finals it was a battle for the gold medal in some tight contests over the weekend. Our Premier League Men reigned winning the gold medal in this elite division after a drought of 24 years! This continues our dominance from our men’s division from last years National Titles in U14, U18 & U16 along with this years NWPL Title. The Men’s A Reserve Game was always a winner for UWACB with two of our four teams making the grand final and the Kinetics prevailed. On the womens side of our club the Women’s Division 3 girls brought home the gold also – congratulations to all!
Our Juniors excelled to claim victory in the 14A & 16A Boys and 14B & 16B Girls. In the final game of the weekend our U18 Boys had the crowd on the edge of their seats in their battle with the Melville Sharks. The game finished with a draw and went through to penalty shootout….still a draw, so another penalty shootout and unfortunately we had to take home the silver this time. With the U18 Nationals in Perth from April 11-16 our boys may have a chance to try again.
